Mission Garage Organization

My garage is always an ongoing organization project.  I seem to always accumulate more stuff.  I am working really hard at simplifying my life.  Here are some before pictures.

My husband is always getting more projects added to his to-do list!  Here is one.  Adding shelving for all of my tubs of school and house items.

We also added some cabinets (which I plan on painting a chocolate brown color later).

Our Podog Doggie Station

 Surfboard Racks

We still have some more shelving and more cabinets to add.  It's a work in progress!  :)

Closet Clean Up

We have lived in our new house for about a year now.  It is amazing how quickly things can get disorganized.  My closet still needs lots of work.  For one, I need new hangers.  I am just not willing to spend money on hangers right now though.  I have some nice ones picked out, but that will come later.  I organized the left side of my closet with shirts.  The shirts on the top are work shirts.  The shirts on the bottom are weekend shirts and tanks.

On the left side I have hoodies and sweatshirts on the top.  There are pants and jeans on the bottom.  Everything is in rainbow order, except my pants.  I haven't quite gotten there yet.

I am in the process of going through shoes and I still don't have a place for all of my flip flop collection.  Those are hiding under my clothes.  If anyone has a flip flop organization idea, please let me know.

Necklace and bracelet organization.

Love the New Find!

I just LOVE a good deal!  I found a really great wall hanging from Ross.

Here is a close up.  It is really beautiful.  It looks like several shells all put together in a mosaic.  The best part about it is it was on sale!

Organization Under the Stairs

We have a great space under the stairs for storage.  I decided to use that space for many things.  The picture on the left is what the space looks like from inside looking out toward the entry door.  The picture on the right is what it looks like when I open the door.  The space in the back is a dedicated space for all of my frames, wrapping paper supplies and there is a small play room for kids too.

Here is the play space for kids.  I left it just like it looks after kids come over to play.  We have lots of friends who have small children and this is the perfect place for them to play.  We took tubs and some of our own kids previously loved toys and put them in there for other kids to enjoy.

I also hung up random artwork and pictures that don't have a place in our new house yet.  My husband built a plain white shelf to organize some of my special things.

Here is the other wall.

I got these adorable boxes from Ross.  I use them to organize wrapping paper, bags and bows.  They are tucked away out of sight under the stairs.

Dresser Renovation

This dresser has been sitting in my garage since we moved into our new house.  It is very special to me because my brother gave it to me years ago.  He passed away a year and a half ago from cancer.  I knew I wanted to use the dresser again, but I wasn't sure where or what I was going to do with it.

Here is what it looked like before.

I knew I wanted to paint it, but I wanted to leave the original wood pieces the same color.  I just wanted to get rid of the green.  I got out the painters tape and got to work.

I decided on a dark brown called Davenport Tan from Benjamin Moore.

I prepared the area for painting.

 And.....I got to work!

I got rid of the green knobs and chose some antique brass colored ones instead.

I decided I would try some fancy one for the cupboards.

 I painted 2 coats.

Then I brought it in the house to dry overnight.  Looks great so far!

We brought the dresser upstairs to the bedroom and my husband put the cupboard doors back on.  Then I used it to store all of the cable boxes and our DVD player.

Another view of the dresser in our bedroom.
